Fibre workshop Weekend
9th - 10th September 2006 at
The Grape Escape, Nelson
This workshop was intended to take you from harvest to the finished
product either for profit or fun. Matthew demonstrated shearing for
maximum quality harvest, fibre handling and preparation for sale or use.
There was a spinning demonstration & Eve Horder was on hand to cover
weaving and answer questions. Betty Rae conducted a workshop covering all
the basic techniques for creating felt masterpieces. It covered Wet
Felting, Nuno Felting and Needle Felting. Nuno
felting ('Nuno' means fabric in Japanese) is a process which melds loose
fibre, into a sheer fabric such as silk gauze. This creates a lightweight
felt that can totally cover the background fabric or be used as a single
decorative design. |
